            The International Council of Shopping Centers reported weekly sales of major retailers  down 1.1%, versus the prior week but up 1.7% versus the comparable period a year ago;  Redbook Research reported month to date retail chain store sales up 0.8% versus the similar timeframe in June and up 3.0% on a year over year basis.

            June industrial production rose 0.3% versus expectations of up 0.2%; capacity utilization  came in at 77.8 versus estimates of 77.7.

            The NAHB Home Builders Market Index rose to 57.0 versus forecasts of 51.0.

            Weekly mortgage applications fell 2.6% but purchase applications rose 1.0%.

            June housing starts plunged 9.9% versus expectations of a 4.0% increase.
