            The International Council of Shopping Centers reported weekly sales of major retailers down 1.0% versus the prior week but up 2.4% versus the comparable period last year; Redbook Research reported moth to date retail chain store sales down 2.5% versus the similar timeframe a month ago but up 2.3% on a year over year basis.

            March consumer credit rose about half of what was expected; and guess where the increases came from (short):

            Weekly mortgage applications rose 7.0%, while purchase applications were up 2.0%.
