This Week’s Data
The
International Council of Shopping Centers reported weekly sales of major
retailers down 2.9% versus the prior week but up 2.2% versus the comparable
period a year ago. Redbook Research
reported month to date retail chain stores sales up 0.5% versus the similar
time frame in May and up 2.8% on a year over year basis.
April
wholesale inventories rose 0.2%, in line with expectations; wholesale sales
increased by 0.5%.
Weekly
mortgage applications rose 5.0% as did purchase applications.
